A judge when sentencing a man for robbery asked if he had anything to say: the man said ‘Yes my lord. ‘Kindly sentence my parents to jail also.’ The judge asked ‘Why?’ The prisoner broke down and replied – “When I was a little boy, I stole a pencil of my classmate from school. My parents knew about it but never said a word. Then I stole a pen. My parents knowingly ignored it. I continued to steal many other things from school; neighborhood and shops till it become an obsession. They knew about it, yet they never said a word. If anyone belongs with me in jail, they do.

These startling revelations and sentiments shocked everyone in the courtroom.

1. Define ‘value’ and ‘ethics’.

2. It is said that ‘parents are, a child’s window to learning’ –Comment, with reference to the above case.

3. How values are developed in an individual’s life?

4. Why is it said that changing of values is difficult?

Value have been defined as basic convictions that a specific mode of conduct or end state is personality or socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end state of existence.

The body of rules of duty drawn from this science; a particular system of principles and rules concerning duty, whether true or false

Yes, parents are a child’s window to learning. Child tries to learn more from their current environment and in that parents are very closely from their so, we can say that parents are child’s window to learning.

Values are not developed in some days. It takes more times or may from childhood it has been developed. What environment a person gets their values are like this.

Values are what you believe that control your life, good or bad. They are close to morals in meaning. If you are amoral, then you don't believe in morality, just doing whatever you think is right. See book of Judges in Bible for consequences of this.

Values are difficult to change because it is not arise in seconds. Values are made after a long time so we can say that it is difficult to change value, if anyone changes values it may give a long time for changing its values.
